In India Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. Not only is that, but the only industry in the nation that uses more than 50% of Indian labor agriculture. The Faculty of Agriculture offers a research and innovation ecosystem that combines soil and water conservation with sustainability and environmental friendliness in farming. The Faculty of Agriculture seeks to meet the demands of industry for agricultural raw materials as well as the needs of national food security. Depending on their requirements and the availability of food, about half of the nation's population either directly or indirectly depends on agriculture. Agriculture is not only providing food, vegetables, milk, fruits and spices/ medicinal to our people but it also provides raw materials to various industries (sugar, cotton, tea, rubber, coffee and jute).
Depending on their preferences, students who decide to pursue agricultural courses are hired for positions in agribusiness and agricultural research. The courses offered by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FAS) are structured to prepare students for careers in a variety of agricultural fields, including technical, business, and sales. The department's primary goal is to provide education and employment opportunities for the aspiring agriculture specialists who will undoubtedly hold leadership positions.
